CREECY GALLERY NEAR CHASTAIN PARK
One of two buildings for the Points of View studio, this gallery modifies the elementary shape of the cylinder to create an art gallery dedicated to artist Herbert Lee Creecy, Jr. He was a prolific artist who spent his entire life creating, and is most well known for his style of abstract expressionism, which he iterated on throughout his life. While Creecy’s art was often seen as pure abstraction, he envisioned many of his paintings as landscapes of the world that surrounded him. The resulting gallery containing his work blurs the relationship between his own painted landscapes and the surrounding life of the Chastain Park neighborhood, framing the lives of visitors, passersby and the neighboring environment. The program contains dedicated gallery space, a gift shop, a cafe, and a lecture hall.
